1 Simple Step To Making Life Awesome
Moving is so exciting, right?
On one side, it’s aggravating, frustrating, and can make you wanna pull your hair out, and on the other side, it can be exciting and fun because you’re moving to a new place, a new location, in a new house, and during the move you come across cool things you haven’t seen in a while.
Like yesterday, I came across several old notebooks. These notebooks have all sorts of interesting thoughts, ideas, notes, writing, you name it. One of them even has the start to a book I thought about writing a few years back but decided that’s not something I was really interested in at the time.
It really made me think of how much things have changed in general. What was so cool or interesting or a great idea at the time, now looked at with today’s knowledge and perspective, seems so weird and made me think, “Really? I actually wrote that down?“. Then again, that’s what life is all about: Change.
If our lives always stayed the same, new knowledge wasn’t gained, new experiences weren’t happening on a consistent basis, life would really suck. This all takes me back to the crazy good teachings of Tony Robbins and the 6 human needs which are certainty, variety, significance, connection of love, growth, and contribution beyond ourselves.
Without variety/change, lives get pretty boring. After slaving away for “the man” for years and years or building your business, things can get very repetitive. Sometimes though, it’s really important to break away from the daily schedules and routines and experience something different. Something interesting. Something exciting, and that’s what moving takes us back to…new ways, changes, and a little spice and variety to our lives.
It’s best when we can share this variety and change with others. For at the end of the day, contribution beyond ourselves, one of the 6 human needs, gets us closer to being happy in the truest sense of the word.
