Check In Or Check Out: Foursquare Madness!

Posted on 05/24/10 Comments

UPDATE: Tired of seeing the crazy amount of Foursquare check-ins? Christa Watson posted in the comments that the new Tweetdeck allows you to remove 4SQ check-ins from your columns. Definitely something worth looking into!

Feeling like a scene from the movie 300, I check my Twitter and Facebook stream, only to see it flooded with check ins via Foursquare (sometimes Gowalla), all the way from places to eat to shopping, to even doctor’s on a rare ocassion. My mind start’s screaming “Madness!” and my physical self kicks in with…

THIS IS #$%@&!!!!!

By now, you’ve seen the insanity of check ins to places. I personally don’t use Foursquare and under the right circumstances, possibly. Heck, if a business will give me a freebie for checking in, why wouldn’t you or I?

All humor aside, here’s today’s video where I jump into this hopscotch, location based craze going on and something we should all keep in mind OR just turn off our phones altogether…

“Do you use Foursquare or Gowalla? Do you like ‘em, hate ‘em? Why?”

Also let's you remove unwanted #'s and sources (like #justinbeiber as so described from tweetdeck) http://www.tweetdeck.com/features/global-filter/index.htmlThere are a lot of other cool features to it as well- they've done a great job on this new update. (disclaimer no i do not work for tweetdeck, yes I'm a sucker for good desktop applications)

The new tweetdeck allows you to remove all 4sq checkins from your columns. ;)The old one allows you to filter out any tweets with 4sq links. #justsayin
