Seems like this hangout thing is great! (at least much better than Facebook's new video chat). I'm wondering if G+ will come out with a mobile version soon and if this video chat hangout will work on a phone. That'll really set G+ apart as well :)
Thanks for the vid!
StephRWong When it comes to one on one video chat, Facebook's offering is better in my opinion than the desktop version of Skype. When it comes to group video chat, hangouts are great, no question.
The thing about hangouts coming to mobile is 1) It will take up a good amount of bandwidth so would only want it to work on Wifi only if you've got a data cap and 2) Would require a good amount of processing power so would need a dual core phone or better (quad core phones/tablets coming out soon).
mikestenger Good points. Well it's great that G+ has come out with what they have so far and it's all really impressive for something that has not become public yet. I'm excited to see what it becomes in the near future!
I've been in a couple group chats so far and absolutely love them. You were the first person I did a video chat with and it ended up evolving into a nice little group of 6 people. It's amazing how simple it is to connect and truly meet people using this tool. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing what G+ evolves to in the future.
whosChrisHughes The potential for business use is insane. Very much looking forward to the integration there.
We talked about this, in a hangout no less, but I've been using these sessions to get over my fear of being on camera. I know the only thing that will get me through it is more time spent in front of a lens. The more minor flubs I make -where I can internalize that the consequences are minimal- the more I can deal with the whole thing. So far it's going well.
Well all but the staying up way too late part. 2am? Who is this girl? I don't know. . .
HeatherSolos You're doing great Heather and it's great seeing you on video as I'm sure others will agree. Now, I can't comment too much on the staying up late in a hangout part. I'm guilty many times over...
thanks for hanging... :)
