How I Prevent A Cough/Cold

What I'm about to share may or may not help at all so no guarantees. I've done this for a while now with some pretty good results and it doesn't require all these pills and syrups that at the end of the day, really aren't good for you and actually fix the problem, they just work on the symptoms.

So, just recently, actually the last 2 days before today, I've been feeling a little out of it. You know how it is…tired, sinuses a little out of it, not operating at 100%, one of those kind of days. You just want to sleep and be lazy all day. It's pretty easy to tell when a cold or cough is coming on and if you keep aware, you may be able to stop it before it starts full effect.

The first step is allowing your body to actually rest. No matter what, if you're all groggy and not 100%, it's going to show in your performance. Whether you work at home or work for someone else, just give your body a little more rest than you normally would.

The second step is to get some fresh air. Nothing can be more freeing and actually beneficial than stepping outside. We came from being out in nature and we get many great goods from nature, so let it help you.

Thirdly, eat more fruits and vegetables. Pretty self explanatory here. It's pure, nature-at-it's-best food. Fatty meats and all this manufactured food isn't exactly the best for us. The more pure the food and the more natural, the better. You can still eat whatever else you normally would, just more fruits and vegetables and less of everything else.

Fourth, use a lot more natural spices, particularly garlic, pepper, onion, and cinnamon. For some reason, this helps me tremendously when preventing a cold. Maybe it has something to do with their makeup, I'm not sure or maybe it just has something to do with me. Either way, doesn't hurt to try it for yourself.

Fifthly, get a lot of Vitamin C into your body. Fruits and some vegetables are a good source of Vitamin C but I'm more talking about vitamins with pure Vitamin C, at least 500mg. Some people think too much Vitamin C is harmful, however, there's no such thing. It's one thing your body can't overdose on…

I remember reading an article a while back on an old guy who takes around 15,000% of his daily value of Vitamin C and he's healthier than ever. Now it's not the only reason he's healthy at his age, there's of course other factors, but it can help make a difference. Don't worry though, you don't need to take THAT much!

What I do is take one Vitamin C (here's the exact kind I use, dirt cheap too) around breakfast and then take one before I go to bed. Typically after doing all these steps, I'm feeling much better within 2-3 days without getting the actual cough or cold.

Last but not least, exercising. This isn't one I'm going to preach about because I don't do enough of it myself (FAIL). Any bit of exercise, whether it's a walk, a run, a weightlifting session, whatever, can be enough in itself to boost your immune system and prevent a cold or prevent a cough from happening.

I hope these little tips helped you and the next time you feel a cough or cold coming on, try 'em and see what happens. Health and wellness isn't my "forte" but I'm just sharing what's worked for me.
