How To Safely (And Easily) Backup Your Social Media Accounts
Hope you’re having a fantastic weekend! I just wanted to talk really quick because it is Sunday and you probably have things planned and talk about how to go about backing up your social media accounts. Now, when I say social media accounts, I’m talking about sites such as Twitter, Facebook, Flickr, Friendfeed, etc.
A lot of people don’t take into consideration that at any moment something can happen to your account and everything can just be gone, forever if you had no way of backing things up. Several months ago I did a screen capture about a solution called Lifestream backup. The video is a little outdated so I’m not going to post it in here but I was reminded just how cool this backup solution really is a few minutes ago.
Unfortunately, it’s been several months since I logged into my account and some things have changed. It’s now called Backupify which is frankly, a way better name and the good news is you can still get backed up for free, that is until January 31st. If I’m not mistaken, you can only backup your Twitter account with the free solution but don’t take my word on that, I could be wrong.
Anyways, what really surprised me is how well and efficient everything has worked since I’ve been gone. My Twitter account gets backed up daily and it organizes everything into different categories as well as having all updates, mentions, @replys, direct messages, sent direct messages, and favorites, automatically put in an ebook (PDF) format. Let me tell you…1027 pages isn’t small!
So basically it’s a very safe and easy solution regarding backing up your social media accounts. I see myself upgrading in the near future so I can have all my other accounts backed up and at this point in time, they currently support 13 different services (6 in beta and 4 coming soon). To get setup, simply head on over to Backupify and open up your free account which is good till the 31st. If you dig the backup, I recommend upgrading, if not, simply don’t.
