Leaving Facebook: You’re Kidding Right?

Facebook, Facebook, Facebook. There’s been absolute insanity surrounding the most popular social network over the last couple weeks. A lot of it, most of it, stemming from the privacy changes that were done months ago.

So why the problems now? Complaints to the FTC, users information being used in unauthorized ways, Mark Zuckerberg saying not-so-great things, and much more.

There’s even talks of May 31st being “Quit Facebook Day”. You are kidding though, right? If you’re looking for a post bashing Facebook, this probably isn’t one for you. Yeah, there’s a lot of things that I don’t particularly agree with and many don’t either, but even with information being more open and less private, this is far from a big issue.

Let me explain…

“How do you feel about Facebook becoming more open? Like it, hate it? Why?”

Mike, I think its stupid for people in the buisness world who have been using Facebook for their buisness and just up and leave because facebook goes more social. If you are concerned about privacy, then remove the personal info from the site. If its too person then dont share it. If you are concerned about Facebook selling your info. Remove your phone number and setup an email address that you can still check but don't care if it gets spam in it. Beside, as a buisness you shouldn't be sharing your life story. No one wants to here about it. Not even family members care what someone in their family eat for lunch! For those using it for personal reasons, its simple dont share anything you dont want a stranger seeing. Its that simple.People worry to much. This isn't that big of deal. I am tired of hearing people complain about what Facebook is doing.

Hey Mike As A long time facebooker, I have learned to set my privacy settings after every update and to use lists to further tweak what I let others see. As A blogger, I am not worried about it. My fan page has only one other fan ATM LOL I am sure that will grow with time! For me, privacy isn't much of a concern, except with things like address and phone number. Those I have limited to friends. Beyond that it doesn't bother me as I am an extremely open person. I guess that's why all this hoopla is amusing me. If you don't want others to be able to see your info...Don't post it on the net. Its a no brainer, in my my opinion.
