It's 4:46 AM and I can't sleep. It's nights like this I keep myself awake, thinking about different things and working on new stuff, exploring new posts from those I follow, and watching mindless Youtube videos. Surely there's a method to all this madness and by sticking to the "normal" schedule of society, I realize that it's really not for me. Hence, good morning before I've even said good night on quite a few occasions.
Success is a really interesting thing. People kill for it, work for it, be lazy to try and get it (sadly), and are so obsessed with it, it takes over every minute of their lives. Quite amazing how something that is purely based on different perceptions, is such a powerful driving force of everyday life.
Success is money, fame, cars, great family, big house, lots of vacations, retirement before your 35, and the list goes on. It's so insanely embedded into our everyday lives, you'd be astounded at how much life is based on success when you really thought about it. The fuel to keep going, the motivation to act, you name it...success is on the mind.
But let's think for a moment: We don't REALLY want success, we want the things success can give us. Lots of times it's materialistic things and other times it's things that do really matter such as freedom, a healthy and loving family, all that stuff. Success in this day and age is just some crazy shitstorm of very unclear goals and a small grasp of what is truly wanted.
You want lots of money? No, you just want the things money can buy.
You want a fast car? No, you just want the feeling that car gives you.
You want a big house? No, you just want the comfort and enjoyment out of having that home.
You want the massive fame? No, you just want the recognition to validate all the work you've done.
So instead of focusing on "achieving success", focus on getting the key things. If you want to make lots of money, instead of focusing on lots of money, switch it to focus on getting the things that money can buy, whatever it may be. When the mind has a clear, laser cut goal, (not to get all new agey on you) but the universe will provide exactly that.
Just thinking and being clear though is never enough. You must work for it and act as always. Action is the accelerator but the mind is the vehicle. Get the vehicle working right, stomp down on the pedal, and get to your destination! And don't worry so much and obsess over success...just work on getting the things you've always wanted and towards true happiness.
Maybe I shouldn't be writing this...I mean, I'm no millionaire or even several hundred thousandaire (is that even a word?). I'm no expert or guru and I sure as heck am no master at things, at least I don't think so. Still though, I'd like to think my head is on the right shoulders and that yours is too. Or so we think.
Misfortune is a necessary evil of life. Having experienced many screwed up things over my rather short existence, it's pretty amazing to be doing what I'm doing, even what you're doing. Still though, a perfect world where perfect things happen and perfect people live in perfect harmony would be awesome! Sadly, this is no fairy tale. Reality they call it? Yeah, something like that...
Some people are affected severely by misfortune while others can take it in stride and even though it's not the greatest, power through it to the next experience in life. What makes up a person who can power through it and go on to be a huge success, making lots of money (even though that's not what it's all about) and helping large groups of people (what it's really about)?
#1: They've got their mind right. They understand how important their attitude is and how it affects things around them. Being mad and sad may not affect that tree over there but you can be sure it has an impact on your day to day operations, as well as what comes into your path.
#2: Every mistake, whether big or small, is part of the learning process. His VMA's stunt was asinine and disrespectful but Kanye West had a point in his song Stronger with the message "What doesn't kill me makes me stronger". The most successful and highly influential people, learn from their mistakes.
They come from a place of "How can I become/do better?" instead of "Oh sh*t! I just screwed up big time!". People who take action to improve from their mistakes, grow. People who don't and let their mistakes take over their thoughts, stand still and get worse.
#3: They pick themselves back up. The majority of society when faced with a very big issue and problem, get overwhelmed, depressed, and lots of times, decrease their activity or worse yet, quit. If you have a strong enough passion, a strong enough desire, and are absolutely certain you want to do something and that you need to do it, you don't quit and frankly if you think about quitting a lot, you may want to reassess what the heck you're doing. Quitting leads to guaranteed failure which leads to guaranteed mediocrity. Don't be average, be THAT person!
#4: Consistency is key. Yeah, they're faced with misfortune and make mistakes but they keep being consistent with whatever it is they're doing. Bloggers and other content creators completely understand the power of consistency. It's how many and most sites are built. Youtube would not be where it's at without people uploading videos on a consistent basis. ProBlogger wouldn't be where it's at if Darren slacked off all the time. Your social media presence wouldn't be able to grow and expand if you only posted a couple tweets/posted a status update a few times per week, etc., and didn't consistently build relationships
These are 4 key things that make up any Mass Fortune-er. What am I missing? Thoughts?
Side thought: Life is full of speed bumps, some big, some small. What's interesting however is that the faster you go over them, the less they affect your car, whereas you go over them slowly, it not only takes longer but shakes up everything inside. You still wanna drive the speed limit but by moving a little faster, you'll get to your destination quicker.
You may not be "hip", "in the 411", or "straight up respresentin", but swagger is a person's style, how they walk, how they talk, how they dress, etc.
Being that I'm part of Generation Y, I know these types of things. Don't be trippin! Ok, enough of the slang. Swagger or swag has always been a cool word to me. I remember hearing it a lot back in high school and especially a lot when it came to Rap music. Rappers would describe it as their lyrical flow, their lifestyles, and their flashy cars and over the top jewelry.
However, swag goes much deeper than that. Like business and everyday life deep. Sadly, most people have no swag at all. They're boring, their sites are boring, and they're bringing very little, if any value at all to the table. A lot of it starts out with your personal style and who you are as a person, but many avoid being that person and putting on a facade as someone they are not. They get caught up chasing the dollar signs and not what will truly make them happy.
And because of that, they have very little swag at all. They're not truly them and if they actually are and pursuing their true passions, they're not taking enough action and haven't fully recognized their swag factor.
Sure, I just made that up but your swag factor is what makes you YOU and what your own, personal, unique style is. You can talk, act and have a site like Gary Vaynerchuck, but you can never be him. You can talk, act and star in movies like Denzel Washington, but you can never be him.
Swag/swagger is what makes you who you are and what attracts people to you, grabs their interest, and keeps them interested. The more and better you recognize your swag factor and portray that in what you do, the more people will be drawn to you and potentially, the more money you will make. Rap music may not be something you enjoy but the guys that seem to always do the best are those that are real and authentic.
Have swag, work that swag, and be as authentic as possible. That's what it's all about and what people are really drawn to anyways...
What Does It Mean? What Do You Do?These are three root questions which determine virtually every single result, whether it be big or something small. For example, what do you focus on? The negative, the positive, the desired result, the objective, the fear of failure, what is it? Then, what does it mean? Pretty much, is it good or bad and will it get you towards the result you want or not. Lastly, what do you do? Do you take the necessary action, apply the effective knowledge, freak out and overreact, or do you just sit there and not do anything about it. Becoming successful isn't an extremely complex thing to do. It always starts on the inside first, the mental side, and branches out from there into the real world. Asking these three questions can help get your mental game to it's best.
