Two Success Principles Via Lady Gaga (And @GaryVee)
Everyone knows who Lady Gaga is. She’s absolutely exploded the last year or so and has just shot into super stardom over the course of this time period. I just got done watching an interview with her on Oprah and there was two key things that I picked up on, and that she openly talked about as to how she feels about what she does.
#1: Be you and embrace what’s different about you. Gaga is definitely and that’s probably an understatement, known for embracing who she really is and going out there and just being that person. Her style and fashion is far out there and let’s be honest: It’s sometimes a little creepy.
Then again, she wouldn’t be her and she probably wouldn’t be as successful if she embraced the “norms” and was just like a bunch of other pop stars out there. It’s not only what makes her unique but allows her to stand out there as something that gets paid attention to.
#2: Connect with your fans and care about them. What surprises me is unlike any other performer out there that I know about, Gaga genuinely and deeply cares about her fans on a serious level. She understands and embraces the fact that it’s her fans who have gotten her to where she is now and that it’s them who continue to come to her shows, buy her CD’s, merchandise, etc.
Gaga goes all out in each of her shows and she does it not just for the money and the fame (which if you know anything about her, she doesn’t really dig the fame), she does it because it’s the least she can do for her fans.
So if there’s anything to learn from Lady Gaga, even after seeing all the interesting music and sometimes creepy wardrobe, it’s that there’s a real person behind it. She not only embraces herself 110% but she actually gives a crap about her fans. Think Gary Vaynerchuck as far as those two qualities are concerned.
Of course you can’t compare the two, however, those two qualities have worked out EXTREMELY WELL for both of them in their own niche and in their own right, and it’s something we should all do more of ourselves.
Side thought: It would be hilarious to see @GaryVee dressed up in one of Gaga’s crazy costumes. Who’s with me?
